Mar 19: Karen Gibson: Battlefield Lessons: From the Sands of Iraq to the Halls of Congress

Do not miss this exciting conversation with a unique leader who has been in the trenches and at the front row of history. A recently retired combat veteran and three-star Army general, Karen Gibson was unexpectedly tapped to serve as Senate Sergeant at Arms in the aftermath of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Join us for an engaging and topical discussion about behind-the-scenes life in the Capitol.

Prior to her Senate appointment, Ms. Gibson served on active duty in the U.S. Army for 33 years, culminating her service as a Deputy Director of National Intelligence. She previously served as Director of Intelligence for U.S. Central Command, responsible for wielding intelligence assets from clandestine operatives to exquisite sensors in space in support of military operations from Egypt to Pakistan and Yemen to Kazakhstan. She is especially proud of her role as Director of Intelligence for the multinational coalition to defeat the Islamic State’s caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

Charged in 2021 with restoring confidence in the Senate’s security and rebuilding a demoralized team, Ms. Gibson served four years in the fascinating position of Senate Sergeant at Arms, one of only 42 people in the nation’s history to do so. Now a keynote speaker and national security consultant, Karen will share insights and observations from her experiences in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and the U.S. Capitol.
