As a technology journalist, Dylan Tweney covered just about every overhyped gadget and gizmo of the past 25 years, from AOL to Zipcar. Many of these products faded faster than you can say “Yo” (the name of a social networking app that let you send only one message — “yo!” — to your friends, and which was briefly, inexplicably popular in 2014). Others have become so influential that they are changing our world permanently. Facebook, X, and Amazon — and their billionaire leaders — are reshaping society and the planet in ways that will be felt long after we’re gone.
Join us for a wide-ranging conversation about the impact of some of those technologies on today’s world — and on the world of 10,000 years from now.
The seeds of Dylan’s passion for journalism were planted at the age of 10, when a cartoon he drew was published in a children’s magazine. From that point on, he was obsessed with seeing his name in print (and later on screen). He’s been writing newsletters and blogging since the late 1990s and has been a columnist, podcaster, and editorial leader for publications including WIRED, VentureBeat, Business 2.0, and InfoWorld. Dylan also publishes tinywords, the world’s largest journal of tiny poems, which is now in its 25th year. At Tweney Media, Dylan works with companies to communicate leadership by developing their own media: bylines, blogs, research reports, speeches, books, podcasts, videos, and more. And on his blog, Dylan helps people learn to tell their own stories more powerfully and effectively.
