Marcus Shepard is a dedicated Detective with the Chicago Police Department, bringing 20 years of experience to his role, including seven years in the Violent Crimes, Robbery, Burglary and Theft, and Special Victims Unit. Marcus has also made significant contributions as a detective in Financial Crimes and is currently serving in the Criminal Registration Unit. Over the years, Marcus has worked in various units, including the Bureau of Organized Crime, Gang Investigations, and the Troubled Building Unit.
Beyond his impressive career in law enforcement, Marcus has spent the last five years as an Adjunct Professor in the Public Safety Institute at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana. His passion for education and public safety is evident in his commitment to nurturing the next generation of public safety professionals.
Marcus’s dedication to service extends beyond his police work. He is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served during Operation Desert Storm as a Physician’s Assistant/National Certified E.M.T., specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Over 17 years, Marcus was involved in over 30,000 births, showcasing his remarkable dedication to healthcare and support for families.
His educational background is equally impressive, with a BS in Public Safety Management and an MS in Public Safety Administration from Calumet College of St. Joseph. Marcus is currently completing his Master of Public Administration degree, set to graduate in December 2024.
