Oct. 16th - Gail Rubin, Funerals Won’t Kill You: Planning a Good Goodbye

In spite of our best efforts, we humans have a guaranteed 100% mortality rate. BUT only 30% of us do any end-of-life planning.

That will leave 70% of our loved ones scrambling to gather information and make expensive decisions while their brains are fogged with grief.

It doesn’t have to  -and shouldn’t -be that way!

In this upbeat, informative talk, Gail Rubin, Certified Thanatologist —AKA The Doyenne of Death®— will share:

·      Real life examples of how it won’t kill you to discuss death.

·      The five things you must know NOW before someone dies.

·      New trends in death: water cremation, body composting, and medical aid in dying.

Gail Rubin, Certified Thanatologist and The Doyenne of Death®, is a pioneering death educator who uses humor, film clips, and outside-the-box activities to prod reluctant adults to plan for their Final Exit and end-of-life issues.

She has authored several books on the topic, hosts The Doyenne of Death podcast, as well as the Mortality Movies TV series. She was one of the first people to hold a  Death Café in the United States and is the coordinator of the 7th annual Before I Die New Mexico Festival, coming up November 1-4, 2024.
