Mar 15th: Cyril Derreumaux, Lessons Learned from the Water: A 91-Day Journey Across the Pacific in a Solo Kaya

Cyril Derreumaux, a French-born American citizen who considers himself a citizen of the world, has learned many lessons from his experiences on the water. With a natural curiosity for people and places, Cyril backpacked around the world at the age of 25, which permanently changed his outlook on life. After moving to California to pursue his profession in the wine business, Cyril rediscovered his passion for water-related activities such as kayaking and windsurfing.

Cyril's thirst for adventure led him to participate in ultra-endurance water events and rowing in the Great Pacific Race, where his team broke the Guinness Record for the fastest ocean rowing crossing. Cyril then planned his most significant expedition yet: crossing the mid-Pacific from California to Hawaii in a kayak with solely human power. Although the journey was not without setbacks and delays, Cyril accomplished this feat in September 2022, becoming the first 100% human-powered kayaker to achieve such a feat.

As a member of the Explorers Club, Cyril encourages others to pursue their passions and dreams. He is currently working on a book and a documentary chronicling his kayak crossing. Cyril's infectious enthusiasm and positive energy make him relatable and down-to-earth, and he demonstrates the power of passion in his presentations. His message of living life to the fullest will leave audiences with a head full of dreams and ambitious thoughts for months to come.
